Block Zoos, Halloween Photos and Flying Machines

Young architects at work building block zoos  . . .

Here we are dressed up in our Halloween costumes.

Be sure to ask your child about the Mean Old With in the Flying Machine.
The strangest sight I've ever seen was a mean old witch in a flying machine.
The witch flew high.
The witch flew low.
The witch flew fast.
The witch few slow.
The witch flew up.
The witch flew down.
She circled all around the town.
Turning right she disappeared into the night.
That mean old witch in a flying machine was strangest sight I've ever seen.
And of course, it happened on Halloween.

Week of October 16

Halloween News
FW’s school wide Halloween Parade will be on Friday, October 27 at 9:00 AM.  Families are invited to attend and will gather in the gymnasium.  Kindergarten will lead the parade. Children may wear their costume to school and bring a change of clothes for after the parade or bring a costume to school and change before the parade.  Please label all items!

We will be reading “in the dark” on Tuesday, October 31.  We are asking the children to bring in a flashlight on Monday or Tuesday for this fun activity.  Children may also bring in a favorite book.  Thank you.

Francis Wyman students have been earning SOAR tickets when they demonstrate self control.   Mrs. Conley drew a ticket from the kindergarten bucket.  Look who had a chance to spin the Wheel of Wyman.

Mr. Doiron, FW's assistant principal, delivered the
"Golden Falcon Seal" to each

student.  This final stamp demonstrates that the child has practiced our SOAR expectations throughout all areas of the school.  Congratulations!

Be sure to ask your child about Maisey the cornsnake.  Maisey is from the Burlington Science Center and will be in our room for another week or two.  Thank you to Miss Pavlicek for visiting our room and talking to us about what snakes eat and the food chain.

Building a block zoo and more . . .

Monday, October 9 - Columbus Day - No School
Tuesday, October 10 - Library books are due.
Thursday, October 12 - Franklin Park Zoo Field Trip

Over the next few weeks, the children will build a block zoo with one or two classmates.  Upon completion of the zoo, we gather around the zoo and the zoo builders share their creation with the class.

Mrs. McDonald stopped by to say hello.

Next week we will sing and dance with our crocodile and monkey puppets.
